An Okanagan Falls winery has been recognized as among Canada's finest.
Meyer Family Vineyards was recently named the country's second-best winery during the 2024 National Wine Awards of Canada.
Its nationwide praise comes after it won two platinum, six gold, two silver, and two bronze medals at the competition held in Niagara Falls, Ont. from June 21 to 25.
鈥淭his is a huge accomplishment, and we are so proud of our winemaking and viticulture team, especially our winemaker Chris Carson鈥, said co-owner JAK Meyer.
According to Wine Align, the annual award show represents "the country鈥檚 largest and most respected competition, involving 100 per cent Canadian-grown and produced wines.鈥 A total of 230 wineries entered in this year's competition.
The Okanagan Falls business has been crafting wines in the region since 2006. Its tasting room, located at 4287 McLean Creek Road, opened in 2010.
Earlier this year, the winery also earned three silver medals for its 2022 Old Block Pinot Noir during the U.K.-based Decanter World Wine Awards.
鈥淲e want to see how our wines fare nationally and internationally, which is why we also enter the Decanter World Wine Awards and Chardonnay-du-Monde," Meyer added.
Meyer Family Vineyards says its products can be found in liquor stores across B.C. and Alberta, as well as on shelves in the U.K., Norway, Denmark, Japan and Sweden.
Edging the Okanagan Falls location as the nation's best was 琉璃神社's SpearHead, which took home "Winery of the Year" honours in Niagara Falls earlier this summer.
