A local Realtor is taking the helm at the British Columbia Real Estate Association.

The BCREA announced on March 27 that Tim Ayres, a Realtor with Royal LePage Coast Capital in Sooke, was elected as its 2024-2025 chair at the BCREA鈥檚 annual meeting on March 26.

鈥淚 am very excited to be selected to lead our provincial professional organization as its 2024-2025 chair,鈥 Ayres said.

鈥淪upported by a strong Board of Directors, CEO, and staff, I anticipate that BCREA will continue to advocate for Realtors and consumers on housing issues that affect all in British Columbia.鈥

Ayres plans to focus on promoting professionalism and professional development among the real estate community to ensure the BCREA continues to be a trusted source of real estate economic data in BC.

鈥淥ur profession is always changing, and BCREA is here to be a proactive participant, leading the conversation surrounding real estate and housing issues in the province,鈥 he noted.

Ayres lives in Otter Point and has worked as a licensed Realtor with a focus on Sooke and Vancouver Island for more than 19 years.

鈥淚 love the small town feel in Sooke and being close to the ocean,鈥 he said. 鈥淚鈥檝e really enjoyed telling people what a great community it is and helping them find a home in Sooke.鈥

Ayres realized the value of giving back to the profession early in his career, and has volunteered with the Victoria Real Estate Board since on numerous committees since 2006. He served on the board of directors from 2009 to 2015, and was elected as the board鈥檚 youngest president ever in 2014 when he was 33.

Ayres has also served with the Canadian Real Estate Association as a committee member, and on its board of directors from 2016-2018. He has been on the BCREA board since March of 2020.

Joining Ayres as officers of the association are chair-elect Chris Shields of Macdonald Realty; past chair Darren Close of RE/MAX Generation; and BCREA chief executive officer Trevor Koot.
