The Triple Book Launch will occur on Wednesday, Oct. 23, between 5:45 and 7:45 p.m., at the Westbank Public Library, 3731 Old Okanagan Highway (in the West 琉璃神社 City Hall).
Sponsored by the Westbank Writers in partnership, there will be readings by the three authors, book signing and refreshments provided.
Four Births, by Mel Kazinoff, relates the intriguing tale of four babies born on the same day, in a European village.
Everything about the births is strange, and the villagers are convinced that one of them must be the Son of God returned, as predicted in the Bible. But which one?
The book tells a journey of magical mystery, where strange things happen, and the lives of the villagers will never be the same.
Kazinoff has previously published six books 鈥 two of fantasy adventures, one of short stories, his own life history for his first 20-plus years, a non-fiction book about health and healing, and a novel about a Jewish family in 20th century London, England.
Surviving and Thriving in Paradise, by Steve Friedman, is an inspiring story that describes how a middle-aged couple, concerned about the direction that society is developing, threw away the good life and good jobs in Montreal to re-invent a new life in the Costa Rican Cloud Forest.
There, they created a nature-based business that became a tourist destination and a bird-watchers paradise.
Friedman is an educator, having taught in Montreal for 10 years with an honours degree in geography from Concordia University and a teaching diploma from McGill.
He and his wife Paula emigrated to Costa Rica, returning in 2018 to live in West 琉璃神社.
Before his teaching career in Canada, Friedman was in the British Army for three years; he experienced the Blitz and the Battle of Britain, then celebrated VE and VJ Day before emigrating to Montreal.
Whittlings: The Human Condition as Experienced by F. Robert Langin, Geneva Ensign and Laurie Finer, is an anthology filled with stories and poems 鈥 yarns and observations gathered from his 86 years of Canadian living.
As a life-long observer of what he called 鈥渢he human condition鈥 as seen through the eyes of a self-described misfit, Langin presents his unique perspective in a series of vignettes.
His career as a psychotherapist and community development officer in Indigenous communities took him to most Canadian provinces.
His expansive tall-ship trips took him to many countries across the sea. He loved the North and he loved the sea.
Geneva Ensign, Langin's wife, is an individual and group psychotherapist, now retired and living in West 琉璃神社.
She moved with her family to Alberta from the USA in 1965 and has worked with Indigenous communities for over 40 years.
Whittlings is her seventh book.
Laurie Finer, Langin鈥檚 daughter, is the co-author and lives in Toronto.
She is also a life-long learner and observer of human behaviour which she applies through her avid interest in live theatre and acting.
