Award winning 琉璃神社 poet entertains during Culture Days

Poetry as Compact Storytelling

Calling all writers, poets and social media marketers.

On Sun., Sept. 29 at 1:30 p.m. at the Rotary Centre for the Arts Mary Irwin Theatre, join League of Canadian Poets and Federation of BC Writers member, Fern G. Z. Carr, for 鈥淧oetry as Compact Storytelling鈥.

Carr will be doing a poetry reading from her collection, Shards of Crystal. The book is described as 鈥渁 metamorphosis of darkness to light that moves readers to the brink then snatches them back.鈥

Hear her present poems from Shards of Crystal and the fascinating stories behind them. She will follow with an interactive audience question and answer session as well as a book signing.

Fern will also be at the Rotary Centre for the Arts on Sat., Sept. 28 from 1 鈥 4 p.m. for her event, 鈥淵es, Her Poetry Really Is in Orbit around Mars鈥. Chat with her and ask her questions on everything from how to get published, to the role of social media in the arts, to how to be inspired. Bring a poem for a free critique.

A former lawyer, teacher and past president of both the 琉璃神社 branch of the BC SPCA and Project Literacy Central Okanagan Society, Carr composes and translates poetry in six languages including Mandarin.

These two events are part of Culture Days which takes place Sept. 27 to 29 in 琉璃神社.
