Cadet enjoys summer experience

Aidan McLuskey is making new friends while training in Victoria

This summer has been filled with new challenges and experiences for course cadet Aidan McLuskey from 243 Ogopogo Squadron in 琉璃神社.

McLuskey is in the middle of completing his training for the at the Albert Head Cadet Training Centre, in Victoria.

This two-week general-training course provides cadets who have recently joined the cadet program with an introductory summer training experience where they participate in a variety of activities from each specialty.

This includes: drill and ceremonial, music, marksmanship and survival.

鈥淚鈥檓 having so much fun learning new things this summer here at Albert Head,鈥 said McLuskey. 鈥淢y new friends are great and the things I am learning are great too, especially since I want to become a pilot one day.鈥

McLuskey is one of the approximately 150 cadets who complete the course each summer.

Approximately 500 cadets participate in training that will improve their leadership, physical fitness, and good citizenship, making this one of the largest training centres in Canada.

The cadet program is open to youth between the ages of 12 to 18 with a focus on leadership, citizenship and healthy living.
