Watch out for three uniquely named ice resurfaces at your local rink.
The City of Vernon announced the winning names for its naming contest for the three new ice resurfaces it has purchased.
Winners were selected from a host of local elementary schools, where students brainstormed and voted in their classroom to create imaginative and fun names.
They are:
- Sniper Wiper- Ellison Elementary
- Lightning McClean- Coldstream Elementary
- Icy McIce-Face- Bearisto Elementary
鈥淲e鈥檙e thrilled to see the excitement and creativity from the students and the community in this contest. These names reflect the energy and imagination of our young residents while celebrating Vernon鈥檚 commitment to sustainability,鈥� said Mayor Victor Cumming, after 1,100 votes were casted to decide three winners from a list of 11 names. 鈥淓ach of these electric ice resurfacers is expected to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 17 to 19 tonnes per year, helping create cleaner air in our facilities and further supporting our environmental goals.鈥�
