It's hard, sometimes, to be festive when grief doesn't take a vacation.
As the holiday season approaches, it will bring a complex mix of emotions, making it tough to find the comfort and joy that the festive season promises.
North Okanagan Hospice Society (NOHS) is offering a free program Dec. 4 at 6 p.m. called Holiday Transitions, to help get through the challenging times.
鈥淭he holiday season is often described as a time of joy and togetherness, but for those grieving the loss of a loved one, it can also bring a profound mix of emotions,鈥 said Megan Cox, NOHS executive director.
鈥淲e understand how difficult this time can be. That鈥檚 why our grief and bereavement services offer the Holiday Transitions program鈥攁 safe, compassionate space where individuals can honour their emotions, connect with others who share similar experiences, and discover pathways to healing and hope.
"Our goal is to help those facing loss navigate the unique challenges of the holidays with support and care."
Robin Collins, NOHS Grief & Bereavement Counsellor, will be leading the program. The event will feature an open discussion, light refreshments, and festive decorations, creating a warm and supportive space to remember and honour loved ones. Pre-registration is required as space is limited, call 250-503-1800 ext 101 or email info@nohs.ca to RSVP.
