The ÁðÁ§ÉñÉç-Okanagan Mission Lions Club has a long history in ÁðÁ§ÉñÉç and is planning a year-long celebration this year, continuing a long history of fundraising in the community as it turn 40 years old.
The club began on March 14, 1977 and has been associated with the Mission Community Hall since then participating in many activities throughout the ÁðÁ§ÉñÉç community. Over those years the club says it donated in excess of $1,000,000 to a variety of charities.
Present fundraising activities include a food concession trailer, Christmas Cake sales and Gaming Funds as well as a program that sees the club collect used eyeglasses for third world eyesight missions through the Lions Eyeglass Recycling Center in Calgary.
Last year over 7,000 pairs of glasses were collected.
Among its other activities, the club contributes significant donations to the B.C. Lions Society’s Easter Seal Camp Winfield for Children with Disabilities, and numerous other causes including the Central Okanagan Community Food Bank.
Members donate time at ÁðÁ§ÉñÉç seniors’ facilities providing assistance with a residential bingo program and monthly pancake breakfasts or barbecues.
In celebration of the club’s 40th Anniversary and Lions Clubs International 100th Anniversary, 1917 to 2017, the club will be performing many different activities within our community. For more information contact them by searching
