Help maintain the urban forest canopy in Lake Country with the tree purchase program.

The District of Lake Country is offering a variety of trees at a discounted price to help maintain the urban forest canopy. 

Residents can choose from one of five WaterWise and FireSmart varieties available: matador maple, ivory silk Japanese lilac tree, northern acclaim thornless honey locust, Persian ironwood, and thornless cockspur hawthorn. 

Each tree is sold for $50 to residents with the district footing the remaining cost of $100. 

Sales will continue until the trees are sold out. There are 25 of each variety available and sales are limited to one per household. 

Trees should be picked up from Kel-Lake Nursery on Shanks Road on Sept. 21. 

Visit the municipal hall or go online to to make a purchase.
