Pushor Mitchell is making a donation to struggling families within Central Okanagan School District 23.

The law firm announced they have donated $7,500 to Hope for the Nations 鈥楩ood for Thought Starfish Backpack鈥 program. The program provides kids attending 25 different Central Okanagan schools with backpacks filled with healthy bulk food items perfect for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

鈥淪ince 2009, Food for Thought aims to eliminate hunger in children in the Central Okanagan, one child at a time,鈥 said Hope for the Nations 琉璃神社 executive director Patricia Phillips. 鈥淲ith one in eight children in our region struggling with food insecurity we rely on the support of our community. We are extremely pleased to collaborate with Pushor Mitchell to make a difference in the lives of youth and their families in our community so they can have a healthy and more successful future.鈥

The program aims for proper nutrition for students so they have better concentration and focus in the classroom.

鈥淲ith our current challenging economic climate, we know that food inflation and food insecurity are pressing issues for families,鈥 said Pushor Mitchell managing partner Joni Metherell. 鈥淗ope for the Nations is helping to address this fundamental need by providing food to the most vulnerable students in our community. This not only helps students concentrate on their education, but also relieves the burden on their families who might otherwise struggle to put a meal on the table.鈥
