An event that's raised $125,000 over seven years for the BC SPCA South Okanagan/Similkameen is returning to Penticton this weekend.

Copper Mug Pub hosts the eighth annual Barry Zarudenec SPCA Fundraiser on Saturday, Nov. 2, with dinner, music, and live and silent auctions set to headline festivities.

Zarudenec, a local carpenter, has volunteered his time over the last several years to organize the fundraiser.

For the one-night event in November 2023, a total of $22,500 was raised for the local animal shelter.

As it has been since its inception, the event will feature live entertainment. Zarudenec says DJ James Chicalo is booked to take the stage.

A total of 150 people are expected to attend this weekend's fundraiser, he added.

Tickets are on sale for $30, while available, and can be purchased at the Copper Mug or by emailing bzarudenec@gmail.com.

Funds will go toward medical costs and other operational needs at the SPCA, located at 2200 Dartmouth Drive.

The event starts at 5 p.m.
