A case of septic shock has caused considerable distress for a North Okanagan family.
Charlotte Woodson of Armstrong was rushed to Vernon Jubilee Hospital on Dec. 23, and it was discovered there that the local wife and mother was fighting a critical battle against septic shock. The life-threatening condition led to a widespread infection in her upper right leg.
鈥淢y mom鈥檚 condition is extremely serious and the medical team worked tirelessly to stabilize her dangerous infections by having five surgeries back-to-back,鈥 wrote Woodson鈥檚 daughter, Mackenzie Edwards, on a gofundme campaign started for her mom.
鈥淗opefully her last surgery was Jan. 11, 2024 with five blood transfusions.鈥
Edwards said her mom still has a very long road to recovery as she is still in the hospital, unsure when she will be able to go home.
鈥淲e are profoundly grateful for the prayers, meals, and support already provided by our friends, family. Now, we humbly ask for your financial support if willing and able,鈥 wrote Edwards.
鈥淵our generosity will not only ease the financial burden but will also allow my step-dad to help care for my mom and to stay focused on her recovery.鈥
As of 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 17, $750 has been donated to the toward a goal of $7,500.
