Thousands of scouts from around the world are converging for a jamboree right here in Canada.
The 13th Canadian Scout Jamboree is held July 8 to 15 at Camp Nedooae in Elderbank, Nova Scotia. Scouts from across Canada and around the world will meet for a celebration of scouting and Canada’s 150th.
Six troops from the Okanagan will be attending the Canadian Jamboree which includes five scouts from West ÁðÁ§ÉñÉç and three from Oliver. The scouts will join together as a patrol under the guidance of two scouters. The Okanagan Mission and Lake Country scouts will form three patrols, with 23 scouts and eight scouters.
The scouts have been busy working on the new Canadian Path Scouting Program to prepare for the jamboree.
It requires the youth to plan their adventurous activities, take part in those activities, and then review the activities using the SPICES (asking how they grew: socially, physically, intellectually, characteristically, emotionally and spiritually).
On Thursday, July 13, the jamboree will celebrate Canada 150 with activities focused on the Canadian experience.
