A new art exhibit in Salmon Arm is taking a 'Paws' for animals this April.
Local artist Verna Brown is hosting Quintessence: The Art of Five Women, a 10-day pop-up art sale and exhibit in support of Shuswap Paws Rescue Society.
Five Shuswap artists – Rebecca Shepherd, Diane Akey, Maureen Howard, Cori Torres and Brown – will be showcasing and selling their original works, with a portion of all sales going to Shuswap Paws.
Additionally, raffle tickets will be sold for a chance to win one of Brown's custom-ordered pet portraits, with those proceeds also going to the rescue society.
"Don't miss this opportunity to explore breathtaking art, support local talent and contribute to a worthy cause," Brown said in a media release. "Join the celebration this April and experience the vibrant creative spirit of Salmon Arm."
Brown, who moved to Salmon Arm in 2022, has created a new creative space to not only display her own work, but also bring together other creators and art enthusiasts, fostering connections and opportunities in one location. From that, she has also started holding the pop-up exhibits that highlight local creatives with an added charitable component to each, with a non-profit organization chosen by the participating artists.
The Quintessence exhibit will run from April 17 to 27 in Brown's gallery space at 1660 20th St. SE, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
