Did you know Keremeos’ Grist Mill and Gardens have almost 100 heritage apple varieties growing on the property?

The heritage site invited the public to sample some of its amazing and uncommon apples last weekend.

The tasting took place in the Apple House. Heritage apple varieties aren’t like your regular store-bought Granny Smith, Gala or Macintosh.

The apples at the Grist Mill are everything from Wolf River, Northern Spy or Caville Blanc D’hiver. There’s also the Cox’s Orange Pippin, an Ashmead’s Kernel or Grimes Golden, said Grist Mill general manager Chris Mathieson.

This was also the last weekend the mill will be open for the season.
