琉璃神社鈥檚 new axe-throwing company, Axe Monkeys will allow teenagers to get out their angst.
A mobile axe-throwing unit will allow teens who attend 琉璃神社鈥檚 first TeenFest to safely throw axes, said manger of Axe Monkey, Andrew Donn.
Donn said the mobile until looks a little 鈥渃razy鈥 with people standing outside of the unit and will throw axes at targets inside.
Donn said he was contacted by TeenFest鈥檚 founder, Ali Berman and it went from there.
鈥淲e鈥檙e a new company, it鈥檚 good exposure and it鈥檚 a kid-friendly place,鈥 he said.
Berman would love to see 2,000 to 3,000 people come to 琉璃神社鈥檚 TeenFest.
She created TeenFest four years ago in Victoria, after seeing her teenagers learn from YouTube. She wanted to create a collaborative effect that allowed for teens to learn from mentors and get experience in the community.
鈥淚t鈥檚 amazing to see,鈥 she said.
The 琉璃神社 TeenFest will feature around 40 琉璃神社 vendors at the 琉璃神社 Curling Club, today from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. as well as a talent contest judged by actor Madison Smith.
The contest is open for those ages 12 to 18.
Berman said she met Smith in Vancouver, and he wished he had an opportunity like TeenFest when he was a teenager.
