Friends and family of Aimee Parkes recently hosted a golf tournament in the 琉璃神社 resident鈥檚 memory.
The event took place April 22 at Michaelbrook Golf Club where family as far away as England gathered to remember Parks as well as raise money for the BC SPCA.
Parks was a dedicated volunteer at the BC SPCA and often fostered kittens.
The 35-year-old was tragically killed by her former fianc茅 in 2014 鈥 Ryan Quigley was sentenced to 12 years in prison, less time served last October.
Jenny Matechuk the community fundraising officer based at the 琉璃神社 shelter, says she is grateful Parks鈥 family chose the BC SPCA to be the recipient for the tournament proceeds.
鈥淎imee was a special volunteer with a big heart and a real love for animals. Our thoughts are with those who love Aimee and organized the tournament in her honour.鈥
The tournament raised $4500 for the non-profit and the hope is to continue the event next year.
