For her many contributions in helping transform public education, the Central Okanagan Public Schools deputy superintendent has received the UBC Alumni Builder Award.

Terry-Lee Beaudry was recognized for her many accomplishments in various leadership roles for the school district spanning more than two decades.

鈥淚 am deeply honoured to receive this award on behalf of my colleagues at the district and university level who have had a hand in strengthening our current Central Okanagan Public Schools/UBC partnerships and who remain committed to building reconciliation practices in education for the betterment of all children and communities,鈥� Beaudry said.

Beaudry was involved with the Indigenous education and leadership behind the school district鈥檚 Equity in Action for Truth and Reconciliation Agreement. Her efforts have led to the Indigenous student graduation rate in the district registering higher than the provincial average.

The deputy superintendent also worked with UBC faculty and local Indigenous Knowledge Holders to re-imagine the OSE Teacher Education Program.

She has also been an adjunct professor for UBC and received the ABCDE Education Advocate of the Year - Outstanding Service to BC Public Education award.

Raised in 琉璃神社 and a graduate of Rutland Senior Secondary, Beaudry started her career in public education as a teacher in the Central Okanagan and moved on to become a vice-principal, principal, director of instruction, assistant superintendent and her current deputy superintendent post.
