With all the breweries in town, the beer community in the Central Okanagan has to be one of the best in the province, right?
Well now is the chance to vote for 琉璃神社/West 琉璃神社 to be named the Best Beer Community in an inaugural competition put on by the BC Ale Trail.
"This isn鈥檛 just about the brews, it鈥檚 about the vibrant, spirited communities that bring them to life. And the best part? British Columbians get to decide who wins," states a BC Ale Trail release.
The public has their chance to vote from Sept. 9 to Oct. 6. Voters will get three votes - one for each category. The three categories can based on the number of breweries in each community: Tier 1 - one to two breweries, Tier 2 - three to five breweries, and Tier 3 - six or more breweries.
In this competition, 琉璃神社 and West 琉璃神社 are combined into one community and sit in Tier 3. Lake Country is not listed in the contest.
Tier 1 features Vernon, Revelstoke, Oliver, Osoyoos, Merritt, and Summerland. Tier 2 has Salmon Arm, Shuswap, and Sorrento as one community competing as well as Kamloops. Joining 琉璃神社/West 琉璃神社 in Tier 3 is Penticton.
The three winning communities will be announced on Oct. 18 (during BC Craft Beer Month) at BC Beer Con, an annual gathering of the province's craft beer scene. On top of bragging rights, the communities will be featured in exclusive content to boost their profile, including social media and blog posts.
Those who vote are also automatically entered for a chance to win a grand prize sip and stay package.
There are currently more than 220 craft breweries across the province.
