A co-operative pairing brings the abstract art of Robert Dmytruk and Heidi Thompson to Headbones Gallery.
Inherent Boundlessness opens at the Old Kamloops Road gallery Nov. 18, 2-5 p.m. featuring the different form and composition of the artists.
鈥淭hey both have used a full spectrum of colors as well as the gray scale,鈥 said Headbones owner Julie Oakes. 鈥淭he source of this freedom, the creative spark, differs in relation to the specificity of individuality. And it is this initial action, in the decision to act in a specific way towards the material that embodies the phenomenology, the unique object which is the art piece.鈥
Thompson, a Vipassana meditator, explains: 鈥淢y 鈥榓bstract鈥 paintings use elements of shape, form, light, color and line to create compositions that may appear to reference visuals seen in the world, but are intended to be independent visual creations. Technically, they are not abstract at all - they are just colorful designs.鈥
Dmytruk, a musician, had a recent exhibition at the Penticton Art Gallery which included a sound installation by Murray J. Reid, composer of the symphony 1987.
Following the opening of the exhibit, Headbones presents the Dharma Dolls for two nights: Nov. 24 and 25.
The house concert series features Tanya Lipscomb, Judy Rose and Melina Schein at 8 p.m. both nights.
Doors open at 7 p.m., tickets are $35 available by email julie@julieoakes.com or call
