Though no release date was announced, it was welcome news to 鈥淪tar Wars鈥 fans who haven鈥檛 had a new film since 2019鈥檚 鈥淭he Rise of Skywalker.鈥

鈥淭he Mandalorian & Grogu鈥 will be a continuation though no details were give about actors. Pedro Pascal has played the masked bounty hunter for three seasons on the small screen. Dave Filoni will produce the new movie alongside Favreau and Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy.

鈥淚 have loved telling stories set in the rich world that George Lucas created,鈥 Favreau said in a statement. 鈥淭he prospect of bringing the Mandalorian and his apprentice Grogu to the big screen is extremely exciting.鈥

Kennedy added: 鈥淛on Favreau and Dave Filoni have ushered into 鈥楽tar Wars鈥 two new and beloved characters, and this new story is a perfect fit for the big screen.鈥

There are several other 鈥淪tar Wars鈥 features in development as well from Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, James Mangold and Filoni, who is also developing the second season of 鈥淎hsoka.鈥
