A Breastfeeding art exposition featuring 15 community projects will be on display Friday, June 2.
The Breastfeeding Art Expo focuses on influencing change through art. It is an exhibition of 15 community art projects and 70 independent artworks by citizens of the Okanagan, Thompson Cariboo, and Kootenay regions.
This art expo has been called a passionate comment and provocative display on the culture of breastfeeding in our communities, in our country, and around the world.
The Breastfeeding Art Expo is a collaborative project between KCR - Community Resources and Interior Health. The project will visit six communities within the Interior Health Region of BC over the next year: 琉璃神社, Vernon, En鈥檕wkin Centre (Penticton Indian Band), Trail, Williams Lake, and Kamloops.
This unique tour begins in 琉璃神社 and we will celebrate the show with an opening night reception Friday June 2 from 7 p.m. to 9 at Rotary Centre for the Arts.
The opening night reception will include: live dance, live body art, spoken word (poetry), and speeches.
Opening speeches are scheduled from 7:15 to 7:35 p.m. The Breastfeeding Art Expo is a unique project aimed at bringing awareness to everyone.
When information is presented in the form of art, music, and dance, in all its dynamic forms, then awareness makes a greater and longer lasting imprint.
