An upcoming concert will celebrate the music of the Second World War.

On Nov. 8 at 7 p.m., the Summerland Community Centre will host Music That Got Us Through WW2, a show led by Don Wade of Sax Among Friends.

During the show, Wade will have stories about the beautiful and often haunting war songs with gracious humour.

The stories came from his early years, when he lived with his grandmother who shared the memories.

The vocals are by Yanti Sharples. Other musicians include Al Crossley on keyboards, Graham Walker on bass and Rod Rose on drums. Wade plays saxophones.

Attendees will be piped in and will meet a legion member in regalia who have a supply of poppies available, and be surrounded by unique decor.

Tickets are available now at Artisans of the Okanagan for $15 cash only for Summerland Community Centre Association members, or $20 for non-members. There will be a cash bar for wine and beer as well as a 50/50 draw.
