The Vernon Community Music School is hosting a Christmas concert to remember.
The award-winning 琉璃神社-based singing group Candesca will perform Benjamin Britten鈥檚 celebrated A Ceremony of Carols and other holiday tunes at the Vernon Community Music School Sunday, Dec. 10, at 2 p.m. Tickets are available at .
Under the artistic direction of Alexandra Babbel, Candesca 鈥 known internationally for their exceptional vocal quality 鈥 will bring to life a delightful holiday programme.
The concert will be a treat for classical music lovers in Vernon who will experience the charms of the holiday season while admiring the elegance of the human voice. The 90-minute programme includes works by Handel, Caccini and Offenbach, as well as Britten鈥檚 1942 composition, A Ceremony of Carols, written during a Transatlantic Sea crossing from the U.S. to England, and inspired by a book of poetry purchased during a stop-over in Halifax.
Candesca is excited to share this performance with Vernon music lovers as they prepare for a tour in May 2024. The ensemble will perform at Carnegie Hall in New York City where they will join voices from across North America, a full orchestra, and four soloists to perform Mozart鈥檚 Vesperae Solennes de Confessore. The tour includes additional dates at other iconic NYC venues.

Candesca, meaning 鈥楤eginning to Shine,鈥 is an ensemble of young women based in 琉璃神社. The group has an international presence, having toured 11 countries.
Babbel founded Candesca in 2007 and Opera 琉璃神社 in 2013 and has a distinguished international singing career as an operatic and concert solo performer.
