Lake Country Winter Blues Fest bigger and better in its second year

Organizer Ryan Donn says he鈥檚 already planning the 2019 edition

Lake Country鈥檚 second annual Winter Blues Festival helps people beat the mid-winter blahs

No R&B, no pop 鈥 just the blues.

For Lake Country鈥檚 cultural development coordinator, , there鈥檚 really no better way to chase away the mid-winter 鈥渂lahs.鈥

And he says that鈥檚 the concept behind the .

Held at the Creekside Theatre in Lake Country, Donn鈥檚 popular event saw six impressive blues acts take over the community building for the second year in a row, and for the second year in a row, it sold out.

This year鈥檚 line-up included Papa Dawg,Vernon鈥檚 , Jim Byrnes, Sabrina Weeks and Kenny 鈥淏lues Boss鈥 Wayne with Sherman Doucette.

As a former president of Festivals 琉璃神社, and the man behind 琉璃神社鈥檚 New York New Years event, Canada Day concerts and Parks Alive, Donn admits, he knows a thing or two about pulling together a party 鈥 but even he was 鈥渟urprised鈥 by the success of the Winter Blues Festival.

That success, he added, has spurred him on as he begins planning next year鈥檚 festival, which will be headlined by the irrepressible .

Donn says he is also planning a Celtic Festival for 2019, and that will likely follow a similar format to the Winter Blues Festival.
