Organizers are, naturally, looking to flush out entries for Lumby鈥檚 third annual Outhouse Races.
The immensely popular commode contest is set for Sunday, Jan. 21, at 12 p.m. at the West Salmon Trail parking lot off Bessette Street.
A maximum of 20 teams will be accepted. The cost is $50 per team and outhouse enthusiasts are asked to register early. All proceeds to benefit the race organizers, the Monashee Trail Society, and local trail initiatives in the Lumby area.
鈥淭his is a family friendly, fun-filled afternoon of fast-paced racing over the snow using an outhouse as your racing chariot,鈥 said the society.
Teams of three will race a three-sided 鈥榦uthouse鈥 using skis, sheet metal or anything else they can come up with to slide it across the packed snow.
Two teammates push the outhouse down the straight stretch track, and the third is seated on the throne with a helmet.
鈥淭he winning team will beat out their competitors through, er, 鈥榟ead-to-head鈥 races with multiple heats,鈥 said the society.
Businesses, community groups, friends, and families are all welcome to put in teams.
All teams must register by Jan. 19 via email to lumbyouthouserace@gmail.com, or call
Prizes will be awarded for first- and second-place, and best decorated outhouse.
