Oliver is ready to rock in celebration of the official start of summer.

The town’s “Rock and Roll Picnic” brings its fifth annual edition to Oliver Community Park on June 20, the longest day of the year, from 6 to 10 p.m.

Live entertainment kicks off with Oliver’s own Sean Petersen, who is set to put his “own spin on songs spanning all genres and eras,” event organizers said.

Later, at 8 pm, it’s time to get out those dancing shoes because Penticton and Summerland’s Jack and Jill will hit the stage. The band typically plays some of the rock’s greatest hits from the 1970s to today.

Admission to the event includes a tasting of three gourmet hotdogs, with local chefs battling it out for who can claim the “Top Dog” title.

Oliver’s Firehall Brewery will be pouring a selection of craft beers and beverage sales will also feature local wine and a selection of spritzers and coolers.

The event — which also features kids’ activities and games — serves as the main source of fundraising for the Oliver Roots & Fruits Expo, which takes place on June 23.

In 2023, the concert sold out in advance.

People are encouraged to buy their tickets ahead of time.

A ticket costs $25 for adults and $10 for students in advance. Children aged 10 and under get in for free.

Tickets are available at the Oliver and District Recreation office at 6359 Park Drive or by calling 250-498-4985. They can also be can be purchased online at .
