The Penticton Speedway has postponed its Iron Driver event, originally set for Aug. 24, due to rain.

Representatives from the track made the announcement Saturday afternoon in a social media post.

"Due to the rain, we鈥檝e made the decision to reschedule the Iron Driver event to Sunday, August 25th for everyone鈥檚 safety and enjoyment," track officials said. "Your race day experience is our top priority."

The Iron Driver, which will feature regular-season racing and the popular hit-to-pass event, will now proceed on Sunday afternoon.

Spectator gates open at 11:30 a.m., with action on the track set to begin at 2 p.m. Tickets can be purchased , or at the gate.

"Please be sure to check the Ironman triathlon map to find the best route across town, as some main roads will be blocked for the event," representatives from the track added.

Earlier this week, Penticton city officials warned of "extensive" road closures Sunday due to the Ironman Canada race.

"If it鈥檚 necessary to cross (Main Street) the best time to do so will be between 10 to 11:30 a.m.," the city said. "Use Government Street and Channel Parkway wherever possible."
