Pirates will overrun the SS Sicamous as they hunt for treasure, walk the plank and duel with pool noodle swords at the fourth annual Children鈥檚 Pirate Festival.
Join in the pirate themed fun and mayhem on Sunday, June 18 from 1 to 3 p.m. Race to the top of a 30-foot high bouncy mountain, walk the plank, duel with pool noodle swords and get a (temporary) tattoo to mark the day. There will be 19 activity stations hidden through the ship, in the park and on the beach too. A pirate dress up booth will be there to capture the moment and volunteers from the model railway club will be there running miniature model trains. Funds raised go to the SS Sicamous Society.
鈥淭his is going to be such a fun event鈥 said Jessie Dunlop, assistant manager at the SS Sicamous. 鈥淭he crew are having fun organizing the games. One volunteer is building a slingshot for the foam cannon balls, and another is practicing how to make balloon swords. The pirate festival is just such a unique event that appeals to children (and parents, too). Every year we have more Pentictonites coming on board for the first time and it鈥檚 great to see.鈥
Registration, onsite at the ship, is $5 for little pirates while parents and caregivers are free.
