Salmon Arm pianist Jaeden Izik-Dzurko plays Johannes Brahms Concerto No. 2, his final, winning performance in the Leeds International Piano Competition held at St. George's Hall in Bradford, U.K. on Sept. 21, 2024.

Multiple-award winning Salmon Arm pianist Jaeden Izik-Dzurko is keeping busy this spring with an extensive tour taking him across Canada and the globe.

His next live performance, hosted by the Chamber Music 琉璃神社 (CMK) Society at the Mary Irwin Theatre on March 21, is already sold out. This recital brings a close to Chamber Music 琉璃神社's 2024/25 main-stage concert season.

Izik-Dzurko, 25, has garnered significant recognition and honours over the past few years. In 2021, the CBC named him one of the 鈥30 hot classical musicians under 30." In 2022, he won first prize at the Hilton Head International Piano Competition, followed by the Maria Canals International Music Competition and the 20th Paloma O鈥橲hea Santander International Piano Competition. In 2024, Izik-Dzurko became the Grand Prize Laureate in an instrumental edition of the Concours musical international de Montr茅al (the first Canadian to do so), then brought the year to a spectacular finish winning first prize at the 2024 Leeds International Piano Competition, receiving the Dame Fanny Waterman Gold Medal.

鈥淐MK was very fortunate to have booked Jaeden for our 2024-25 season before his big Leeds win,鈥 said president Diane Bond in a media release. 鈥淲e believe Jaeden will be hard to pin down in the coming years. Our sold-out concert shows that 琉璃神社鈥檚 classical music audience appreciates this opportunity to hear him in recital.鈥

CMK has arranged an educational opportunity to make the most of Izik-Dzurko's time in 琉璃神社. On the day of the concert, he will lead a master-class for advanced piano students of the 琉璃神社 Community Music School. For his recital, there will be a pre-concert talk by conductor Rosemary Thomson. The evening will feature four pieces: J. S. Bach鈥檚 Partita No. 4 in D major, BWV 828; the Sonata No. 3 in B minor, Op. 58 by Chopin; Scriabin鈥檚 Fantasie in B minor, Op. 28; and finally the Preludes, Opus 23 by Rachmaninoff.

Two days later, Izik-Dzurko will be in Toronto for a solo recital at Hugh's Room. There are two recitals taking place in Quebec on March 28 (Salle D鈥橸ouville, Palais Montcalm) and March 30 (Salle Pierre-Mercure, Montr茅al), and then Izik-Dzurko is headed to South Korea where he'll be performing at numerous venues.
