Canadian singer and songwriter Sarah Harmer played for an all-ages crowd at Song Sparrow Hall on March 18.
Harmer is on her latest tour promoting her newest album Are You Gone (Arts + Crafts). The album is described as a deeply personal and momentous collection of songs motivated by life’s beauty, love’s mysteries and the climate crisis.
According to the Salmon Arm Folk Music Society, Harmer has become a fixture in Canadian politics and advocacy, from co-founding the citizen’s organization PERL (Protecting Escarpment Rural Land) to leading the effort to prevent an open-pit gravel mine in a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve on the Niagara Escarpment.
In 2022, Harmer helped launch the Reform Gravel Mining Coalition in her home province of Ontario to protect water, farmland, and biodiversity.
