Canada will get to see the funky dance duo from Vancouver Island at least once more as they compete for $1 million.

Jacksun Fryer and Carlow Rush of Funkanometry were announced as one of 14 acts to make it to the next round of the talent competition series Canada’s Got Talent.

This is the first year the prize has ever been so high, noted a release from Rogers Communications, describing the amount as “the biggest cash prize in Canadian television history.”

The hip hop and popping dance duo were previously on the 2022 season of America’s Got Talent, and were eliminated in the semifinals.

While Fryer and Rush are the only Islanders to make the final cut, they will be joined by fellow British Columbian Eshan Sobti, a vocalist from Mission, next Tuesday, May 7, at 8 p.m. on CityTV.

The duo received four yeses from the series’ judges Howie Mandel, Lilly Singh, Trish Stratus and Kardinal Offishall following their first appearance on the show April 2. Funkanometry’s choreographed and mostly synchronous routine started off to Lynyrd Skynyrd’s Sweet Home Alabama, but comically changed to Queen’s Don’t Stop Me Now.

“You are taking things from the old school, you’re taking things from the new school and you’re combining it,” said Offishall during the April 2 broadcast. “You guys are incredible and I loved it.”

Next week’s episode can be caught on the CityTV channel, streamed on the app CityTV Plus, or on the website .

If the duo makes it through to the finals at the OLG Stage at Fallsview Casino in Niagra Falls, Ont., airing May 14, they’ll need fans to send in their votes to help them win the $1 million grand prize.
