Landmark Cinemas Canada will mark the closing of its Paramount Theatre in 琉璃神社 with a selection of special presentations from March 25 to 28.
A portion of proceeds from tickets sales for that weekend will also be donated to Kids Help Phone.
The Paramount Theatre opened its doors in June 1949, and was acquired by Landmark Cinemas of Canada in 1987. In a nod to its storied movie-past, the films to be screened on the last weekend will include two movies from 1949鈥擮rson Welles鈥 The Third Man and Abbott & Costello鈥檚 Africa Screams; from 1987 鈥Harry and Hendersons and the original Beverly Hills Cop.
Ticket prices for these special presentations are $3, with $1 from each ticket sold will go to Kids Help Phone.
Batman vs. Superman will be also be presented during the theatre鈥檚 closing weekend at current posted admission pricing.
鈥There鈥檚 no question that movie-lovers in 琉璃神社, and surrounding communities, possess a special Paramount Theatre moment - from first dates, to first kisses, and of course unforgettable movie moments,鈥 said Neil Campbell, president and CEO of Landmark Cinemas Canada.
鈥淲e wanted to rekindle those memories as we prepare to dim the lights for the last time. We extend our 'thanks' to the thousands of 琉璃神社 and area movie-lovers that we have had the privilege to entertain since we began operating the Paramount in 1987.
"We also extend our best wishes to Ronmor Developments, the owners of the Paramount, as they embark on the changes that will ensure that the Paramount building remains a vital part of the downtown 琉璃神社 streetscape.鈥
鈥It is important that we continue our local community connection by giving back to a worthy cause,鈥 added Bill Walker, chief operating officer of Landmark Cinemas. 鈥淪o, although the curtain is coming down on the Paramount, we remain committed to serving not only 琉璃神社鈥檚 movie-lovers at our Grand 10, Xtreme 8, and Encore West 琉璃神社 theatre locations but to assisting community organizations such as Kids Help Phone.鈥
