With a winter filled with snowboarding, skiing and more on the slopes of Big White, the ski resort is warning people about potential rental scams.
"Estate Direct Hub (previously known as Estate Direct Solutions) is once again targeting our community with fraudulent rental schemes," said Big White Ski Resort on Facebook. "This company has a history of scamming staff, dating back at least three years. In the 22/23 season, several staff members were scammed out of significant amounts of money by this same group, resulting in numerous police reports."
With the winter season getting closer, the ski resort has started to notice fake rental listings on social media increase, with scammers pretending to be landlords. These scammers usually ask for a security deposit, money up front, and personal information. Once they receive all of this, they disappear.
"As a community, we must stay vigilant and support each other," said the Facebook post. "Please share this information with your friends, family, and colleagues to help protect them from falling victim to these scams."
