A familiar face is putting her name forward as a Conservative candidate for the new federal Vernon-Lake Country-Monashee riding.
Min Randhawa was born and raised in London, England and moved to Canada in 1993 and has lived in Vernon since.
鈥淚 had the privilege of serving the people of Vernon-Monashee for over 20 years as the constituency assistant to three remarkable MLA鈥檚,鈥 said Randhawa (formerly Sidhu).
She also worked on a family farm, ran a successful business and raised her children here.
鈥淪ince arriving in Vernon 30 years ago I鈥檝e been engaged in working for our community,鈥 said Randhawa, who was president of the Multicultural Association of Vernon, sat on several boards such as ILearnBC and the Vernon Women鈥檚 Transition House, was the founder and honorary chair of the North Okanagan Heritage Society and set up a sustaining donor with the Community Foundation of North Okanagan called Women to the Power of Ten.
鈥淚鈥檝e been blessed and fortunate to have had a very good life in Canada, but today I am concerned,鈥 she said. 鈥淚 have family and friends that are struggling to survive. I鈥檓 concerned about public safety, individual rights and freedom, our healthcare system, and the lack of fiscal responsibility amongst the current government. I am concerned about our seniors being ignored, and ensuring our children have the opportunity to make a good life for themselves.鈥
Raised with strong Sikh values, Randhawa believes in hard work, community service and the power of giving back.
鈥淚鈥檓 at a time in my life where I can give 100 per cent of my time and commitment to my next endeavour,鈥 she said of her reasons for running.
Min joins Kevin Kraft, Scott Anderson, Teresa Durning and Rachel Enns in seeking the Conservative Party of Canada candidacy.
