A fundraiser has accumulated more than $19,000 for a 琉璃神社 couple whose life was turned upside down when a fire destroyed their home and claimed the lives of their two dogs.

Celia Weston and Jory Lumley returned home on the afternoon of April 2, to find their RV in Ellison was ablaze. Weston immediately ran into the burning structure to rescue their two dogs, Goose and Bear.

"Tragically, she was only able to pull their limp bodies from the home," said Lumley on an online

Bear died at the scene due to smoke inhalation and Goose was immediately taken to the vet for intensive treatment. The golden retriever was in critical condition and spent 24 hours on life support, accumulating a vet bill of $9,000. Despite their efforts, the damage from smoke inhalation was extensive and Goose died.

After the blaze was extinguished, fire crews also told Capital News that the flames and smoke caused extensive damage to the home and as a result, the RV is likely no longer livable.

The GoFundMe post says that Weston and Lumley's insurance coverage is limited and does not extend to emergency housing.

"Our journey in recovering from this tragedy is far from over, but the love and actions from everyone have made us feel that with your support, every day we will continue to get stronger," said the couple in a statement on Instagram.
