The BC Green Party will now have representation with a candidate in the 琉璃神社-Centre riding, ahead of the upcoming October 19 provincial election.
, the newly appointed candidate grew up in Revelstoke and has since lived in numerous communities in B.C.'s Lower Mainland. He hopes to represent 琉璃神社-Centre as an MLA at the B.C. Legislature in Victoria.
While he was growing up, Tippe was exposed to his mother's experience with addiction.
He says that witnessing her journey to recovery "gave him a deep understanding of substance abuse and the importance of accessible treatment."
Tippe is the first in his family to have attended university, where he earned a degree in political science.
He plans to use both his personal experiences and academic background to advocate for the mental and physical needs of 琉璃神社 residents through sustainable change.
Also running to be MLA of the 琉璃神社-Centre riding is City Councillor Loyal Wooldridge with the BC NDP, and Kristina Loewen representing the Conservative Party of BC.
Dr. Michael Humer had been representing BC United before the Party withdrew from the election on August 28.
