Heavy rainfall, increased risk of landslide closes Westside Road again

B.C.'s Ministry of Transportation and Transit provided an update on the Westside Road landslide on Thursday afternoon, April 3, and released a video showing the clearing efforts that are ongoing at the scene.

Westside Road has been closed again to all traffic.

A says the reasons are heavy rainfall and an increased risk of landslide activity.

"The closure is necessary to ensure the safety of the traveling public," the post reads. "The road will remain closed until further notice. We will continue to monitor conditions closely and provide updates as they become available."

The road had been reopened to single-lane alternating traffic on Sunday (April 6) afternoon following a landslide that shut down the route on the evening of April 1

No one was injured in the slide.
