West 琉璃神社 RCMP continue to investigate the cause of the collision. No other details can be released at this time. Traffic is still slow through the area in both directions on the highway.

Update: 2:35 p.m.

West 琉璃神社 RCMP responded to a vehicle crash on Highway 97 at the top of Drought Hill near Peachland this afternoon. The crash involved at least one vehicle and one person has been seriously injured.

RCMP ask the public to avoid the area if possible.

Emergency crews have been called for an apparent high-angle rescue off Highway 97 northbound in Peachland.  

There are reports that a vehicle may have gone down an embankment near the junction with Highway 97 C, just before Seclusion Bay Road. However, a witness at the scene tells Black Press Media that they did not see a vehicle or any breaks in the concrete barriers along the highway.

Traffic is slow north and southbound through the area. Traffic is also slow north of Okanagan Lake Provincial Park due to utility work along the highway. Single-lane alternating traffic is in effect.
