A fire fully engulfed and destroyed a home in 琉璃神社's Rutland neighbourhood shortly before midnight on August 29.
After receiving reports of dark grey smoke coming from a residence in the 800 block of Hartman Road, crews arrived to a fully involved single family residence with exposures to multiple buildings and vehicles.
There were no hydrants in the immediate vicinity so water tenders were used for water supply.
Crews were able to protect a nearby residence that was exposed to the blaze with only minor damage.
The home where the blaze originated "is a complete loss," said Scott Clarke, platoon captain.
Several vehicles and outbuildings on the property of origin and a neighbouring home suffered damage ranging from complete to minor.
The fire is suspicious in nature and is under investigation.
Crews remained on scene after the blaze was extinguished to extinguishing hot spots.
There were no injuries to any of the fire crew. .
The 琉璃神社 Fire Department responded with four engines, one rescue unit, three water tenders, a rehab unit, a command unit and an Assistant Chief including 24 fire personnel.
BC Ambulance Service, the RCMP and FortisBC Gas and Electric were on scene for support as well.
