The City of 琉璃神社 is looking at hydrogen to potentially power some of its fleet vehicles and use in other operations.

Key areas of interest include logistics and delivery options; infrastructure requirements for hydrogen storage and refuelling; details of hydrogen production methods and sustainability practices; and current availability and expansion capabilities.
The RFI also asks potential suppliers for detailed cost breakdowns, information about projects with other municipalities or organizations that can be shared, as well as company backgrounds and experience in hydrogen supply. Several companies have expressed an interest in the city's request including FortisBC, Air Liquide, and Houle Electric.
According to the , the country is known for its leading hydrogen and fuel cell technology companies. Canada also has the potential to produce large amounts of low-cost, clean hydrogen in excess of domestic demand.
Hydrogen can be used in light and heavy-duty vehicles, as heat for industry and buildings, for power generation, and for many other uses.
