At approximately 3:30 p.m. on the day of the incidents, 琉璃神社 RCMP responded to a 911 call on Coronation Street and located an injured man in his 60s.

The injured man told police that he heard his neighbour screaming for help and went to assist. According to police reports, when the man entered his neighbour鈥檚 backyard and encountered Dolphin who became violent and attacked him.

The screaming the man heard had apparently come from his female neighbour who had been attacked by Dolphin.

The woman was in her backyard when Dolphin, who was unknown to her, attacked and attempted to choke her. Dolphin then attempted to enter her house.

According to RCMP, the woman fled and entered a nearby building but was followed by Dolphin. She found refuge in a neighbour鈥檚 yard until police arrived. Both victims suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Dolphin is also said to have attempted to enter a daycare.

He was subsequently located in the area, arrested and later charged.

On Jan. 10, 2023, Dolphin was declared unfit to stand trial.  Months later, the decision was reversed and it was determined that Dolphin was fit to stand trial.

The trial saw delays due to the accused鈥檚 ongoing mental health struggles and a change of counsel.

Dolphin entered guilty pleas to charges of aggravated assault, break and enter of a dwelling house, break and enter of a place, and assault with a weapon, on February 22, 2024.

On June 25, Dolphin appeared in 琉璃神社 Provincial Court for sentencing by Justice Beames. She imposed a sentence of five years of total jail time, less time served.

Dolphin will serve a sentence of four years for aggravated assault, one year (concurrent) for break and enter of a dwelling, nine months (concurrent) for break and enter of a place and one year consecutive for assault with a weapon. As Dolphin has been in custody since September 2021 and was granted a credit of 1.5 days for every one day spent in jail, he will spend another 312 days behind bars.

In addition to the jail sentence, the court imposed a three-year probation order, a 10-year firearm prohibition, and a non-communication order with the victims of the assaults.
