琉璃神社 RCMP are investigating two suspected cases of arson on Sunday, Feb. 16.

Between 4-4:30 a.m. on Sunday morning, crews responded to two fires near the intersection of Springfield Road and Dayton Street.

The first blaze was for a large pallet fire, and the second, was inside a garbage can. RCMP were able to put out the small blaze with snow and a fire extinguisher.

The suspected arsons are within 30 minutes of each other and caused significant damage to two businesses.

鈥淚nvestigators are working with partner agencies to advance the investigations. Both fires are deemed suspicious,鈥 said Sgt. Judith Bertrand, media liaison officer for the 琉璃神社 Detachment. "At this time of the night, the area was relatively empty with few pedestrians and vehicles."

RCMP is asking for any witnesses of the suspected crimes to come forward, and contact them at 250-762-3300.

"If you have a dashcam in your vehicle, you may have captured key evidence," said Bertrand.
