The Water Street boat launch is getting a makeover.

Renewal and replacement of the floating docks begin on Tuesday, April 2.

Docks and launch facilities will stay open Apr. 2-5 with modified access, and partial closures.

Facilities will be closed for approximately two weeks starting Monday, Apr. 8 to allow removal of docks and piles, followed by the installation of new floating and fixed docks and gangways.

鈥淭he project aims to improve public safety, and accessibility, promote a long service life, and deliver low-maintenance construction consistent with current environmental regulations,鈥 said Ryan Esbjerg, project technician.

Fees collected from commercial users during a 2022-2023 pilot program will help with the maintenance costs and improvements needed at the Cook Road, Water Street and Sutherland Bay boat launches.

With dredging work complete, boaters can access the Cook Road boat launch while Water Street facilities are closed.
