Six of eight wildfires are now being held, according to BC Wildfire Services. One of them is under control and another remains out of control.
Additionally, a ninth wildfire was discovered in the area 10:39 a.m. on Tuesday morning. It is also out of control.

Multiple spot wildfires have been discovered close to Merritt.
In total, eight new fires are around the Merritt area. They are all caused by lightning.
Some of the fires were discovered on Monday night (Aug. 12) while some were found in the early hours of Tuesday.
The fires range from 0.09 hectares to 0.3 hectares in size. Seven of them are considered out on control while one is being held.
