Man in distress safely taken into custody by 琉璃神社 RCMP, ERT

The incident remains under investigation

A video posted to social media shows a police presence in the 500-block of Jaschinsky Road, in Rutland, late Tuesday night (April 22).

琉璃神社 RCMP confirmed to Black Press Media that police were on scene at about 11 p.m. as officers responded to a call of a 31-year-old man in distress who was possibly in possession of a weapon inside a home. 

After some time, the Southeast District Emergency Response Team (ERT) was deployed to the area and was able to take the man safely into custody around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday morning.

"This incident remains under investigation as there may be some criminal elements," said Cpl. Michael Gauthier. "No injuries and no further details at this time."

A neighbour posted a video of the incident to the Facebook page 琉璃神社 Alert and stated that the house police were focused on, sees many individuals coming and going at all times of day.
