This inspired me to resign from the RCMP because I believe in service - government should be here to serve you, not the other way around.

What qualifications do you think an MLA should have?
I believe that an MLA should possess a strong foundation of integrity, work ethic, honesty, and a genuine drive to serve their community and its people. These qualities are essential because they foster trust and accountability, which are crucial for effective leadership.
While knowledge of policy and procedure is important - and certainly can be learned - values, ethics, and morals are the cornerstones of true leadership. An MLA must approach every decision with a strong moral compass, ensuring that the needs and voices of the community are prioritized.
An effective MLA should be an active listener, willing to engage with constituents to understand their concerns and aspirations. This not only builds rapport but also informs better decision-making that reflects the community's needs.
Ultimately, a commitment to service and a dedication to upholding the highest ethical standards will enable an MLA to navigate the complexities of governance while remaining focused on the well-being of their constituents. It鈥檚 about being a true advocate for the community, striving to create positive change and foster a collaborative environment where everyone feels valued and heard.

What political issues will drive voters to the polls this election?
Key political issues like affordability, housing, health care, public safety, and safe supply/decriminalization are driving voters to the polls. These concerns resonate deeply with constituents, as they directly impact their daily lives and well-being.
Affordability is at the forefront, with many families struggling to make ends meet. Voters are looking for solutions that ease financial burdens, from cost-effective housing options to accessible health care services. The housing crisis, in particular, is a critical issue; people are seeking stable and affordable living conditions that allow them to thrive in their communities.
Public safety is another significant concern. Citizens want to feel secure in their neighborhoods, which requires effective policing and proactive measures to address crime and community safety. Additionally, discussions around safe supply and decriminalization reflect a growing recognition of the need to address addiction and mental health issues compassionately and effectively.
As a representative, I am committed to addressing these pressing issues head-on, advocating for the change our riding deserves.
What unique issues are affecting your riding?
Several unique issues significantly impact our community, including affordability, housing, health care, and public safety. These challenges are felt daily by residents, who are seeking solutions that promote a better quality of life.
One pressing concern is the limited infrastructure, particularly the fact that we rely on only one hydro line for power. This vulnerability affects not just our energy security but also our overall economic stability. Westside Road requires urgent improvements to ensure safe and efficient travel for residents and visitors alike.
Traffic congestion on Highway 97 is another critical issue that hampers mobility and economic activity. As our community grows, we must find effective ways to address this congestion to facilitate smoother transportation and improve access to essential services.
My commitment to serving our community means prioritizing these issues and ensuring that every voice is heard as we strive for meaningful change.
