A day after the Mission Creek Regional Park playground renewal was set to begin, the Regional District of Central Okanagan (RDCO) announced it has been delayed until spring 2025.
"The project start has been delayed until spring 2025 to allow for further evaluation of accessibility standards, scheduling and material availability," states a RDCO release. "This extra time will ensure that we can address the community’s concerns."
The playground and rope swing area was set to close from Monday, September 9 through to October 4 but now it will remain open until further notice.
It has been 12 years since the playground was last updated. In 2023, the RDCO provided a survey, asking residents their thoughts on the playground's replacement. It garnered more than 225 responses.
"We appreciate the community’s input and patience as we work to ensure the best possible outcome for this project," said the RDCO.
