It is billed as an evening of music and giving back with a goal of raising funds for BC Children鈥檚 Hospital.
Sponsored by Align West Homes, and its Build For Good initiative, Music for the Mighty will feature live performances, and powerful stories at Revelry Food + Music Hub on Friday, Oct. 4.
The event has deep significance for Jordan Hansum, construction manager at Align West Homes. His daughter was treated for a serious condition at BC Children鈥檚 when she was almost four years old.
鈥淵our world immediately comes to a halt when you receive news that you pray you鈥檒l never hear," Hansum said. 鈥淵ou鈥檙e in shock, helpless, and it鈥檚 all out of your control."
His daughter is now a healthy 10-year-old.
鈥淏C Children鈥檚 Hospital was there for my daughter, and our family, in a way I will never forget,鈥 Hansum added. 鈥淚鈥檓 forever grateful, and giving back is my way of showing my continued support and that I haven鈥檛 forgotten.鈥
Music for the Mighty has raised $20,000 of its $50,000 goal for the social work department at BC Children鈥檚, which provides assistance to over 300 families each year.
鈥淲e are incredibly grateful to the Music for the Mighty community for ensuring that patients and their families at BC Children鈥檚 receive the support they need and that stress and financial barriers are reduced during their care,鈥 said Rita Thodos, executive vice president of philanthropy at BC Children鈥檚 Hospital Foundation.
Music for the Mighty will feature local Okanagan talent including the newly formed band Gun Shy, a group of 琉璃神社 real estate leaders, along with country artist Michael Daniels and folk singer Myla.
