New cuisine option opens in ÁðÁ§ÉñÉç

Mr. Lu’s Kitchen has opened at 101- 2689 Pandosy St. near McKay Avenue in ÁðÁ§ÉñÉç. 

Owned and operated by Susan Feng and Paul Lu, who have been in the restaurant industry for over 18 years, the quaint 40-seat restaurant has a wonderful ambience all of its own. Mr. Lu’s Kitchen has a huge and varied menu of starters, cold dishes, soups, fried rice, egg foo Yung, chow Mein, chop suey, beef, seafood, chicken, pork, Sichuan & Hunan style dishes and family and combination dinners. You can also request spicy hot or less hot. Everything we sampled on our visit was an abundant variety,  absolutely delicious and fresh. Mr. Lu’s is open seven days a week, from 11 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., seven days a week for in-eat or take-out.

 

ÁðÁ§ÉñÉç Kitchen and Bath has opened at 470 Banks Rd. in ÁðÁ§ÉñÉç.  Owned and operated by two certified plumbers, Lakh Brar and Charan Sidhu (Sid), the company has a beautiful showroom featuring the latest tubs, sinks, toilets, faucets, range fans, shower bases and electric fireplaces. Of course as plumbers, Lakh and Sid offer a full line of plumbing supplies. Their products are all in stock and readily available right on the spot, with no need to pre-order. Both Lakh and Sid are passionate about their trade and all their products are tried and tested as they use all the products themselves and have used them for many years. ÁðÁ§ÉñÉç Kitchen and Bath offer competitive pricing. Whether you are remodeling, are a builder or building on your own, they have something for everyone. Open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Saturday. 

Seva Mattress Outlet has opened a second location in B.C. at 105-1641 Commerce Ave. in ÁðÁ§ÉñÉç, the original store located in Surrey.  Owned and operated by Mohamad Fahham, Seva Sleep Products Inc. manufacturers their own brand of products with their factory located on Vancouver Island. Mohamad and his family has been in the mattress business for three generations. Seva specialize in all foam products and their main focus is memory foam, foam mattresses and beds, in all sizes. They also custom make products for RVs, boats, campers and replacement cushions with zippers. Seva customize your mattress for you and your partner in a new and innovative way. They have a unique, one-of-a-kind measuring pressure point device that tells you exactly what type of mattress and pillow you should try, even with an adjustable bed base. The device also shows you the best position for you to sleep, either on your back, or on which side. I tried this measuring pressure device, to see how it worked, and it was really cool, telling me the best way to sleep and what pillow to use.

I was honoured to present the Jillian Reid Cup Award, the ÁðÁ§ÉñÉç Garden Club Lily Award and three Aggregate Winner Awards. My fellow city councillor Charlie Hodge, a member of the ÁðÁ§ÉñÉç Garden Club, presented the People’s Choice Award.

It’s official. After a successful 26 year-run with Adidas Golf Canada (TaylorMade) well-known golf guy, Greg Murtland, territory manager/sales and marketing – Okanagan Valley, East and West Kootenays and Northern B.C., has made it to the finish line and has retired. Keep tuned in case he pops up somewhere else!

 

The Lady of the Lake Gala Evening is Saturday, July 13, 7 p.m., at the Creekside Theatre in Lake Country. The announcement of the 94th Lady of the Lake and Ambassador team will happen at that time. Born to Shake, the North-end cocktail bar is partnering for a Sip & Learn event with East ÁðÁ§ÉñÉç’s newest distillery, Luckhurst Farm & Distillery. Luckhurst comes from a history of farming, crafting and distilling. The distillery produces vodka, gin and limoncello that showcases the natural agricultural quality of the Okanagan Valley. March of Dimes is sharing a groundbreaking global stroke education program now being offered in Canada. FAST Heroes is an award-winning health education program that is delivered in schools by teachers targeting Grade 1, 2 and 3 students. The aim is to raise awareness of stroke symptoms and the need for speedy action. FAST Heroes is an animated character-based education initiative with a central character Timmy, who becomes a FAST hero by learning how to beat the EVIL CLOT and save his Grandhero’s life. Together they teach students about the three main signs of stroke and the importance of calling an ambulance immediately. Natalie Perrier is the ambassador of the B.C. program. Lots happening this summer at S.H.A.R.E., 581 Gaston Ave. Join them for repurposing items that have been donated, keeping them out of the landfill and giving them new life. Good Vibrations in July will be hosted by The Vibrant Vine Winery on July 13. This will be a music lover's day as there are seven local and live bands, three stages and food vendors. The live music goes from 12 to 8 p.m. Bands are Instario, Rolly Rangno Band, Sista B & The Boyz, Major Mambo, The Legendary Lake Monsters, Bran Sanders and Michell and Kent Duo. The Rotary Centre for the Arts (RCA) has announced its RCA Presents 2024-25 Performance Season for the Mary Irwin Theatre. There are 15 amazing shows that showcase some truly high calibre artists and push creative boundaries. Acera Insurance Golf 4 Kids Golf Ball Drop Fundraiser in support of BGC Okanagan gives you a chance to win two tickets for anywhere WestJet flies and $2,500 spending money.
